| Maker Bio/Info: The only son of two non-affluent people from a rural backwater town in the deep south, Dave was destined for a the life of a lower middle income redneck, but thanks to his father's affiliation with the US Army, he had a chance to travel from Louisiana to Alaska and a few ports in between at a young age, filling him with a wanderlust for places not dominated by soybean fields.
This wanderlust naturally exposed Dave to people from different backgrounds, with their unique and varied hobbies and interests, a lot of which he absorbed willingly. From learning ANSI C on DEC Alpha boxes for Process Automation from Canadians, learning PLC Development from Croatians and Italians, and learning all about radio from other "geeks" in workplaces, to self teaching himself Artificial Intelligence, micro-biologic simulation, and nano scale polymer and particle physics, his interests are as varied as standard DNA codons.
Current Projects/News: Things Dave has done (or is doing): 1: Attained an Amateur Radio General License, which was used to chase tornadoes in and around the Memphis, TN area. 2: Developed subatomic simulations that randomly generated hydrogen atoms from a quark / gluon soup. 3: Actively working on Artificial Intelligence using Deep Learning Neuron Models (cortical column simulation networks for object recognition in the time domain). 4: Building a DIY CNC Machine capable of milling from wood to soft steel. 5: Replacing all analogue controls in his Jeep with digital systems controlled by a Pi and an Arduino. 6: DIY Sewing (henceforth called "Thread Injecting") to create ultralight backpacking gear for winter hammock camping. 7: Amateur Photography (Landscapes mostly, a lot of my work is on display at my Office @ Saturn) 8: Currently building an automation system for a saltwater aquarium, using Arduino + Pi. (Auto water changes, lighting control, etc). |
